Slow Tuesday, hour 7

I do sooooo enjoy this kind of news. Well really when it comes down to it, any news involving Mick Foley. What can I say, I read both his autobiographical books and enjoyed them immensely. Mr. Foley (yes, I'll be respectful here) was able to make me feel so welcome and friendly in those books, it's definitely one of those things where I think I "know him" better than others...when, in actuality, I know I don't. It would be quite a trip to meet the guy. I'd be so stressed about not coming off like some fanboy (sorta like everytime I've ever gone to a Neil Gaiman signing) that I probably wouldn't have much of a memorable exchange or anything.

But anyway, back to the news. (Which, it should be noted, is doing the rounds on all sorts of other "dirt rags". So I get the impression the whole event actually happened and that the source I'm linking to isn't just up and fabricating something for my personal amusement.) For those who don't know Foley had some less-than-flatering words about Flair in his first book. I wouldn't say they were nasty. I thought he was very specifically directing his Flair criticism at Flair's booking ability, I thought it was clearly stated. Not going after his athleticism, or even his legacy. Foley just criticized one aspect out of Flair's vast career. While I haven't read Flair's book yet (hmmm...it'll probably be a long time before I actually do...), I hear his published retaliation was a bit more snarky. So that's part of the backstory to this little news piece, but the rest of it stands on its own: Flair coming off looking like a thin-skinned egotist. Hey, I know that sort of statement can get me lynched down here in "Horsemen Country" and all. But that's how I read it and that's how I'd report it. God bless you, Mick.
