Morning crossfire

This was the article I read.

This was how I responded:

And those Americans, or at least the informed ones, voted to keep George W. Bush in office for four more years.

Yes, let the healing begin Melissa! Is it any wonder why you’re so quick to perceive the bitterness and immaturity you go on to write about? Could it possibly have something to do with starting your article with this condescending, equally immature tone? Good for you for taking the high road.

First of all, anyone that has to refer to Bush as an "idiot" is clearly feeling insecure about their own intelligence level, and probably with good reason.

Nope. I feel very secure about my intelligence level. And I can point to any number of the best-selling daily “Bushisms” calendars with 365 different examples of C+ Augustus’ troubles with the English language as proof to His intelligence level. Bush didn’t win the election. His low approval ratings on November 1st prove this. Karl Rove won the election. 3.5 million people who showed up to vote against pro-homosexual referendums won the election.

What about us average Americans who are just worried about losing too much of our hard-earned money to the government?

Firstly do “us” all a favor and try not to rhetorically lump “us” all together. You all elected him. We don’t want any part of that responsibility. I consider it my patriotic, American, civilian duty to pay taxes. It’s too bad you see funding the federal government as something you “lose”. I’m happy that a portion of the hard-earned money I make goes to pay the courageous men and women serving overseas, the salaries of hard-working teachers and school staff members at this fine institution, and the people who are hired to thanklessly protect us like judges, police, and emergency responders. Because you know, Melissa, there’s a big difference between those that receive tax cuts and those who benefit from the tax cuts.

I mean, you guys had everyone on your side: MTV, the media, Hollywood, rock stars.

Yes, this is truly engaging political analysis. Invoking Bruce Springsteen and P. Diddy as though they were somehow important representatives of Democratic Party issues tells me just how much television you watch, as opposed to how many books you’ve read. You will make an excellent pundit one day, Melissa. Keep up the good work.

We've had gay marriage and stem cell research and abortion rights crammed down our throats for too long.

What, did you write this column a week ago? Earth to Melissa: Those issues aren’t going away because of the election! Those were the very divisive issues that motivated that extra 3.5 million to vote His Eminence back for another term! You voted for more cramming, now smile and enjoy it.
