Basically, with Pandora, you're creating your own radio station. But not just any radio station with music programming, like all-but-three radio stations that broadcast in the Triad area (for the record, those three stations are WUAG, WQFS, and WSGH...viva La Movidita, fight the power!) that plays and replays all that fluff you've already heard ten times before. Depending on what you tell Pandora you dig, it will give you newies and oldies...gems and crap...singles and "deep cuts". If you hate what you're listening to, just hit the Fast-Forward button or "thumbs down" it! Like trusted friends, Pandora can potentially make you a fan of someone you've never heard of before.
Pandora will also let you listen to other people's stations. Over the past few months I've created three Pandora stations. Links to said stations are available in the sidebar. For a quick intro to how Pandora works, go and give one (or two) of 'em a click!
Heyzeus23 Radio is my most organic station, I find myself constantly adjusting and toying with it. Artists who make up the programming include Built to Spill, Animal Collective, Yo La Tengo, and (of course) Sonic Youth. Today I added OOIOO and Joanna Newsome.
Noodles is my dub, reggae, hip-hop station. Jimmy Cliff, Lee Perry, and Public Enemy.
Mi Anita Radio is for my wife. Once we raise the funds, ditch dial-up, and return to broadband I'm sure she'll enjoy it. Daniel Lanois, Jeff Buckley, Death Cab for Cutie, etc. etc. etc.
