Nicole Kielar, a neighborhood friend, died in a tragic helicopter accident. I got the call yesterday. I was fixated on the news all day long, getting RSSed up-to-the-second updates. Last night Annie and I scoured our albums and found photos of her from our wedding. Joe, her twin brother, was one of my best-men.

Rick, I am so sorry you lost your friend in this tragedy. I lost three family members in a completely preventable plane crash ten years ago, and it just sucks. Hang in there.

I came across your site while searching Nikki's name on the web. I had the honor of knowing Nikki during her time at the University of Virginia and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad. Nikki was honored last night (5/29/05) at the National EMS Memorial Service in Roanoke, Virginia for her death in the line of duty. Her family was present to accept the award.
